It had to have been destiny.
One of those sliding door moments where there was no room left for coincidence, just pure, written in the stars, fate.
They were two Bin Chickens from very different sides of the Transfer Station….
Muriel, a gold foil tray baby, fed with the silver spoon by parents that were held in the highest esteem by the community.
Hailing from the line of a well known Pharaoh Ibis, her family made up the rules in this town and were respected enough that everyone followed them.
Well almost everyone. Let’s say everyone with the exception of the
ruff n tumble Montague family.
Shane, the youngest member of the Montague flock took after his older brother Romero. He was a ruffian that grew up in dark restaurant alley ways. His education was learnt under the wing of his much adored brother in the school of hard knocks and dust ups over scraps.
On that particular, fateful day of Shane and Muriel’s first meet, Shane had once again placed himself in a precarious situation that involved two alley cats a mangy mutt and an industrial bin where the holy grail of slightly rotten wagu beef had been tossed from the BBQ house next door.
A tug of war misdemeanor with him on one end of a side of delightfully stinky steak and the furry outcasts all attached on the other, had ended with Shane hurtling head long out of the alley and into the street where cars buses and bike couriers whizzed by.
Shane saw his life flash before his beady little brown eyes as he stared straight into an oncoming bus with a lit up sign for the Broady Shores.
He threw his wings in front of his face as the bus hurtled towards him. One wing didn’t quite make it as it was otherwise occupied and suddenly his body was yanked sideways and with eyes screwed tightly shut he felt his body hit the pavement, hard.
